Strategy & Communication Director (2008-2010) in Resins

Analyzing the financial crisis and predicting its effect on DSM’s turnover, based on the insight that the crisis is largely caused by de-stocking; discovering the Lehman wave. Shaping the strategy for DSM in resins and contributing to the Corporate strategy. Defining and implementing a new brand positioning, including kicking of the change process, cleaning up the legacy trademark situation and defining a new market positioning.

Director for Business and M&A (2002-2008) in Resins

Business Director for one of the coating resin segments in DSM. Strategy formation for resins and for corporate. Conceiving the Equi-WACC curve (call me if you want to know more). Part of the team for the acquisition of NeoResins (Netherlands) and Syntech (China).  Integration of NeoResins and turn-around of Syntech in China. Creating the basis for the Corporate pricing project. Building a new factory in China. Exploring for local production and M&A in Russia.

Sales Manager in Asia and in Europe (1994-2001) for pharma raw materials

Setting up distribution; Leading first the Asian and later the European team, entry in China and India. Achieving high growth figures for DSM. Negotiation, connecting, networking. Designing the logistical part of the new corporate SAP system.

European Patent Attorney (1988 – 1994)

Youngest and fastest graduate in European patent law in DSM. Protecting innovation in biomaterials, resins, plastics. Translating complex issues into layman’s terms.  Extensive training in civil law.
